WHAT DO BALLOONS, WORK GLOVES, AND AN OLD CHANDELIER HAVE IN COMMON?⬇

One can’t help but see the parallels to our world today, with the changing temperatures, the warming of the oceans and the large amounts of plastic and metals inside of them. Just like the trilobites’ oceans are changing, so are ours.

Riddles of the Trilobite was a new musical created by Collaboration Town. The book and lyrics were written by Geo Decas and Jordan Seavey. It was directed by Lee Sunday Evans. A group of creators/artists that I have been so fortunate to have worked with a couple of times. On this show I designed the set. On its second run I also designed and made the Elder’s costumes. I am very interested in found object art and use found objects in my art, as much as I can! Using rubber gloves, balloons, bubble wrap, garbage bags, and washers from my grandfather's auto body shop. These were some of my most favorite creations. Even the upstage drop was from plastic sheeting and the show floor was from a show I did a year before. I used that floor on four different shows and it looked different every time!

COSTUME PROCESS

  • Of course there are the design meetings and the directors thoughts but really the actors help me design the costumes. I also do a ton of research, thinking about color palette, shapes, texture and movement. I also am aware that I am helping inform the actors as well.
